# V9 Context
V9 is the first version where we deliberately changed the model’s structure rather than its tuning. We introduced a new kind of thinking β something we hadn’t tried before β with the expectation that it might help crack the wall we’ve been hitting.
It didn’t.
What it did do was show up as one of the five largest signals the model found across the entire historical record. That matters. It tells us the idea has real weight behind it β the data confirmed it belongs in the conversation. But in weeks eleven and twelve of the 2000 season, it made no difference.
The wall is still there.
We know more now than we did at V7. We’ve ruled out calibration, we’ve ruled out structure, and we’ve confirmed that the new direction has signal even if it didn’t solve this specific problem. The question for V10 is whether the issue is something we haven’t measured yet, or whether weeks eleven and twelve of the 2000 season contain something no model signal can account for.
