Our Staff NFL game thoughts Monday morning after Week 5’s Sunday is over.

With terrible play, stupid penalties and a lackluster effort, the Dallas Cowboy feel at home to a winless (not anymore) Tampa Bay Buccaneers team who pick up their first win of the season. The best comment was a fan yelling that Prescott should be charged with playing quarterback under the influence.

In yet another London game, the Jags stupidly try to go for a TD on 4 th down in the FIRST HALF to try and tie the game and fail. Neither team could establish the run, lots or PI calls. Jags have a flag on every play it seems calling TD’s back and killing drives. Finally they score and miss the extra point of course, after giving away multiple points only to play prevent win defense gave up a field goal by Philly and down 1 with 8 seconds left. Huge runback and late field goal somehow Jacksonville pulls a victory out of defeat. Terrible coaching.

The Raiders are for real. They create opportunities. However, penalties got in their way. The Patriots appear to be getting back into form that made a Super Bowl run last year.

Pittsburgh always makes things more interesting then they need to be. Yet defending their home field and defeat the colts 34-22, as Rodgers still showing he has something left in the tank albeit he can move in the pocket.

Green Bay took charge even with numerous injuries and defended home field against the Chicago Bears. With a commanding 31-7 victory putting them ½ game ahead in the division but all chasing Minnesota.

Minnesota went into New Orleans and with a shutout of the 4 th quarter and scoring ten points of their own, leaving a perfect 5-0 to start record in tack with a 23-13 vicotry.

The Jets and Browns played in a downpour and the Browns had the game in hand until a bad snapped led to great field for position for the Jets. The go in for the go ahead score and win at home 17-12.

In the I don’t wanna win a game…the NY Giants faced the Washington in a game that Washington had in control then gave up the lead to take the game to overtime. NY Giants missed a 30 some odd yard field goal to take the lead. Then Washington drives right down the field to only fumble. Then NY drives down the field to fumble it away. And to add insult to injury Washington drives down the field no timeouts under a minute to go they are around the 25 yard line and decide to run a play and time runs out. Horrible coaching and playing all around ending in a 27-27 tie.

The Chargers were driving in a tie game and found a way to turn it over leading to a field goal. They were in a tight game only to screw it up again and lose by 6 to remain winless on the season.

The 49es remain in the unbeaten ranks with a strong performance at Seattle and win 32-29 in a somewhat of a shoutout and at times defensive stands.

The Detroit lions manhandled the Arizona cardinals in a 45-21 romp.

In the late game, the Atlanta Falcons let victory slip away. Gave up a last minute touchdown and 2 pt conversion. Then in OT the gave up a touchdown and back up QB Tua threw a pick to end the game. Atlanta controlled the entire game except when it counted.

Random thoughts. Again the refs are heavily involved in the games. The weather played a bit part of the games and strategies this week dealing with the rain and wind. Why are so many coaches passing up points with easy filed goals? WOW bad kicking day around the league, so many missed FG’s and PAT’s
